AD EXCHANGE

Technology platform used by digital media buyers and sellers to facilitate automated, auction-based pricing and buying in real-time that provides advertisers with aggregated publisher inventory.

A company or service that aggregates advertising inventory and audiences and makes them available for sale by matching them with advertiser demand.

AD SERVER

A computer or web server that stores, maintains, and serves digital advertising assets; manages delivery pacing for rules-based advertiser campaigns and provides reporting on campaign performance.

Tactics and strategies used by publishers and SSPs to streamline and optimize how buyers access impressions based on data and insights into how bidders like to buy inventory. As a result, the seller can maximize the value of their inventory and preserve their user experience.

HEADER BIDDING

A programmatic tactic that allows publishers to control how their inventory is priced and accessed by offering it to multiple demand sources simultaneously. It can be implemented either in the header of a page or on a technology provider’s server before making calls to an ad server.

PROGRAMMATIC GUARANTEED (PG)

Combines the exclusivity and predictability of direct sold campaigns with the data targeting, scale and efficiency of RTB infrastructure; buyers agree to purchase a guaranteed volume of premium impressions from a publisher at a fixed pricing level.

PRIVATE MARKETPLACE (PMP)

A tactic by which advertisers are able to display ads to users, using scanning technology, based on the content of the webpage they are viewing. This is becoming popular again with the enforcement of GDPR and consent-based advertising.

SUPPLY PATH OPTIMIZATION (SPO)

A broad array of algorithmic and manual tactics used by DSPs to streamline how they work with SSPs. SPO became popular due to the rise of header bidding, as it lead to a duplicative view of publisher inventory and resulted in more complicated auction dynamics and increased QPS for DSPs.
