Hamburg, Germany (14 March 2017) – PubMatic, the automation solutions company for an open digital media industry, today announced the appointment of Michael Zeisler to the role of regional director for Central Europe, a significant growth area for PubMatic. In his new role, Zeisler will help PubMatic open its second German office and new German headquarters in Hamburg, first announced late last year, and assist the company in developing new premium publisher relationships with a particular focus on the company’s revenue management platform, SEVEN, which incorporates both its unified ad server for publishers as well as its sell-side platform (SSP). Zeisler will report to PubMatic’s vice president of EMEA, Bill Swanson.

Central Europe is a key growth area for PubMatic, particularly Germany, one of the most advanced in terms of programmatic adoption throughout Europe. In 2016, the programmatic digital display market in Germany grew more than 24% to reach €798 million ($885.34 million), according to eMarketer, and accounted for 41% of all digital display advertising[1]. The market is expected to reach a tipping point this year, with more than half (54%) of all digital display ad spending in Germany transacted programmatically, and eMarketer predicts that the programmatic digital display ad market in Germany will be worth €1.4 billion ($1.55 billion) by the end of 2018.[2]

“As PubMatic continues to grow at a rapid pace, we’re expanding our management team to ensure that we can continue to support our clients and partners in the best and most efficient way possible,” said Bill Swanson, Vice President of EMEA. “Michael brings significant and varied experience to the table, and we know he’ll be integral to our mission of improving the marketplace and bettering the ecosystem for media companies, marketers and end-users alike.”

Zeisler joins PubMatic from the demand-side platform Turn, where he served most recently as account director for EMEA, responsible for managing the client services team to drive seamless execution, improve revenues and master efficiencies for the company’s partners. Zeisler has also held positions at TripleDoubleU and AOL, where he focused exclusively on publisher needs.

“Leading the PubMatic team in Central Europe, including Germany, is an absolute honour. I was drawn to PubMatic’s excellent product offering and deep alignment with premium publishers. My goal is to grow the company’s presence in the German market and to support the company in this stage of their international expansion,” Zeisler said. “PubMatic is rapidly growing in the EMEA region and it’s an exciting time to be a part of this team, especially as more publishers adopt the company’s header bidding and wrapper solutions.”

The expansion of PubMatic’s EMEA leadership team comes at a time of significant growth for the company, which announced record financial results and ongoing profitability in late 2016 and most recently released the latest addition to its suite of header bidding products, in-app mobile header bidding.

PubMatic is also a gold sponsor of the upcoming d3con in Hamburg, Germany, one of the world’s largest programmatic advertising events that brings more than 1,500 top-level participants from leading advertisers, agencies, publishers and service providers together each year for networking and thought provoking discussion. As part of the sponsorship, PubMatic will host an exclusive dinner at the Parliament Town Hall with a number of executives from across the EMEA ad tech industry.
