At a time when there’s almost too much choice – more content, more models, more platforms, more devices, more of everything for audiences and brands to navigate is it possible that the one thing everyone wants – relevancy – is one of the ‘things’ that there isn’t enough of.
The other being ‘thing’ that there is arguably not enough of is scale – especially when we think about premium publishers. Couple the lack of scale with the removal of the cookie and therefore an addressable audience and one might wonder if there is any chance of brands (and publishers) of a) really knowing their audience and b) being able to engage with them in a relevant way?
What if, in the future, we had convenience and scale, overlayed with addressability and accessibility? Thereby allowing brands to work with publishers to deliver the right message, to the right audience, at the right time, across the right platform. Providing high quality, highly relevant content and thereby safeguarding the both the publisher and advertiser relationship with the audience and, dare I say it, safeguarding digital publishing. Sounds great in theory, but how do we turn theory into reality?
